Best Colleen Hoover Books for Beginners

Whoever you might be, a vivid reader or a starter who does not much about books, you must have heard of Colleen Hoover. She has been all over the place from trending on TikTok to topping the charts of the New York Times Bestseller’s list.

Hoover has been publishing novels for over a decade. In 2012, with no connections and experience in the Industry, Hoover took a chance and published her first novel, “Slammed” by herself.  After over a decade in the industry, Hoover has become one of the most popular authors on BookTok, outsold many famous authors, and has a feature film in the works starring Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively.

Colleen Hoover's best books

A typical CoHo ( as her fans call her) book is a simple book that freezes the readers with its complex storylines, unexpected plot twists, and characters that are as easy to love as hate. Until now, she has released 27 books, and here are some of the must-read Colleen Hoover's best books.

1)     Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Slammed is the book that started it all for Colleen Hoover. It is her first book and it reflects her other stories typically (complex stories connected through relatable characters and situations).

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is expected to be the rock for her mother and younger brother. But, she is suffering from the inside and has no one to tell. She finds a strange connection with a handsome 21-year-old boy, Will Cooper in the neighbourhood. Maybe, it is his love for poetry slams or it may be anything. On their first date, they both recognize something familiar in each other and are shocked and slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a halt. They can speak to communicate with each other only through the poetry they share.

2)     It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

It Starts with Us is Colleen Hoover’s sequel to her best-selling book “It Starts with Us”. It begins directly after the end of the first book. So, logically, one must have read “It Starts with Us” to understand the intricacies of the characters and the underlying relationships between them.

In this book, Colleen Hoover expands on the backstory of the fan-favorite character, Atlas. We get switching perspectives of both Lily and Atlas. The book, to some extent, deals with the second chance that life gives to one.

Lily is united with Atlas again and the hope of getting a second chance at true love blossoms in her heart. Almost immediately, she is brought to the knowledge that, even though Ryle and she are not on marriage terms, he still plays a very important role in her daily life as they have been on civil co-parenting terms. Although this book certainly does not deal with complex character arcs and situations like a typical Colleen Hoover Books, it mainly operates on the characters and gives an expansion into their world and the understanding of the characters.

Rather, It Starts with Us provides intriguing storylines that feel honest for the character arcs and their expansions. Unsurprisingly, the story does not feel dragged. The book has its own set of themes and storylines to keep the reader interested.
